Libraries make holidays merry and bright

Posted on December 23, 2014 by Sunny South News

I am firmly in the camp of people that love the Christmas season.

I embrace it all — hunting for a real tree, decorating the house, sending cards, the music, and the shopping.

Love it or hate it, there is no denying it’s a hectic time of year. I am pleased to report there are a few ways the library can help.

Shopping for a last minute gift? If you have an avid reader on your list and you’re not sure what to buy, come and see us.

We can help out with suggestions of new and popular books, up and coming authors or, if they’ve read everything by their favourite author, we can suggest a similar alternative.

Getting tired of your own Christmas music selection? Why not check out ours. We have lots of CDs in the library. Better yet, you can stream Christmas songs on your computer or mobile device using Hoopla.

Are your kids already making you crazy?

There is nothing like the magic of the holidays as seen through the eyes of children.

On the other hand, when the weather is chilly, everyone is inside, and the kids are filled with excitement, it can be a bit much.

We have lots of books and movies to keep them entertained.

Also, don’t forget our toy library has over 200 toys for kids up to age 11-12.

Just looking for a little peace and quiet? We are open between Christmas and New Year’s.

We have a fireplace and a coffee machine, great reads and lots of comfy seating. Escape the chaos of your house and come relax with us for a few hours.
