Editor, The News;
On behalf of Canadian Blood Services, Kate Andrews High School, Intercontinental Truck Body and the Van Seters family, we would like to thank the town of Coaldale for their support of Canada’s blood system.
The fourth annual Coaldale Cares campaign concluded on Dec. 31, 2011.
In total, 191 people visited the Lethbridge blood donor clinic to give blood on behalf of this yearly campaign.
Because every donation can save or improve up to three lives, an amazing 573 patients were helped by the generosity of Coaldale residents who rolled up their sleeves to give during the holidays.
With the support of Coaldale and surrounding area the Lethbridge blood donor clinic collected 1,294 blood donations in December.
Most of the blood collected during the Coaldale Cares campaign has already been transfused into patients, highlighting the ongoing need for blood.
Canadian Blood Services reminds eligible donors that they can give blood every 56 days or about six times a year. Please call 1-888-2-DONATE today to book your next appointment.
Thank you again for your ongoing generosity and we look forward to working with the Coaldale community for the fifth annual Coaldale Cares campaign in 2012.
Belinda Tomiyama, Community Development Coordinator
