EDITOR; I agree with your opinion that President Barack Obama has not yet performed any monumentous feat that merits the Nobel Peace Prize Award. However, I felt validated that it was awarded to him at a time when despair in the world condition was at its peak, Obama was a breath of fresh air with nothing more than his campaign slogan of: “Yes we can”. I believe it is a positive mantra the whole world needed to hear. That, added to his personal history and his colour was encouraging to everyone at a time when we all needed hope and encouragement desperately. I am glad that his effort has been recognized and wish him God's blessing in his leadership. ELAINE MARTIN Picture Butte |
