With construction underway on a modernization project for Picture Butte High School, the annual academic awards were hosted in June at Dorothy Dalgliesh Elementary.
The Koster Family Award of $25 went to Justice Parrott, the Velva Haney Memorial Award of $50 went to Adam Van Raay and the Mary Nolan Memorial Award of $50 to Derek Tokai. The Picture Butte Canteen Award of $50 was presented to Dillan Perry. The Wilbur Ellis/Daniel Sawa Memorial awards of $50 each went to Benie Fast, Melissa Bexte and Jessica Watson. The highest average awards for junior high, sponsored and presented by Dennis King, went to Oliver Campbell, Melissa Bexte and Nicole Desautels, who each received $50. At the senior high level $25 awards were presented to Nicole Boras for the Art 10 BDO Dunwoody LLP award, the Food Studies 10 PBHS award, the Forensic Science 10 PBHS award and the Sports Medicine PBHS award. The CADD 10 PBHS Student Council award went to Judy Wiebe and the Butte Home Hardware Construction Technologies 10 awards went to Jason Juhar and Cody Rempel. Tess Richardson claimed the Drama 10 North County Liquor Store award, the English 10-1 Cor Van Raay Farms award and the Media 10 Shimek Services award. Marina Pansky won the English 10-2 PBHS award, Lyndsay Van Essen won the Financial Management 10 PBHS Student Council award and Rachel Regout won the Instrumental Music 10 PBHS Student Council award. Peter Garratt won the Pure Math10 Martin Brother’s Funeral Chapels Ltd. award while Tony Suderman won the Applied Math 10 Applied Lee’s Heating and Air Conditioning award and the Science 14 Shimek Service award and Josee Beatty won the Math 14 North County Liquor Store award. Lucas Jakober claimed the Mechanics 10 Hi-Way Service award of tools and the Physical Education 10 Picture Butte Lions Club award along with Jasmine Bergen-Henengouwen who claimed the femal Physical Education 10 award. Kelsey Groenenboom won both the Science 10 Lee’s Heating and Air Conditioning and Social Studies 10-1 PBHS awards. Michelle Sauchuk won the Cor Van Raay Farms Social Studies 10-2 award. The level 20 subject awards of $50 each were presented to Amethyst Pansky for Art 20 Friends of the Picture Butte Municipal Library Society and Phil and Tracy Mack. To Ryley Schuld for the Biology 20 Grandview Cattle Company award and Career and Life Management Grandview Cattle Company award. Dallin Oliver won the Chemistry 20 Shumaker Petroleum and Hail Insurance award. Annalies Brander won the Drama 20 PBHS award, Tyler Elaschuk the English 20-1 North and Company award, Taylor-Rae Dixon the English 20-2 J.F. Murray Farms award and Amal Chand the English 20-4. The Food Studies 20 Bert’s A.G. Foods award went to Tia Salisbury, the Instrumental Music 20 PBHS award to Jordan Woodward, the Mathematics 20 Pure Cor Van Raay Farms award to Lynden Nummi, the Mathematics 20 Applied Papworth Farms award to Devin Hanna, the Mathematics 20-4 PBHS award to Dwight Marratt and the Mathematics 24 PBHS award to Dakota Ruttan. The ATB Financial Agricultural award went to Curtis Watson and the North County Liquor Store award to Sophie dePeuter.The RCL metalworks Trades/Engineering award went to Skylar Sparkes and the Picture Butte and District Chamber of Commerce award to Kristen Jensen. The Noble Concrete (1987) Ltd. awards went to Kim Krahn and Curtis Watson, who also won the Tire Shop award, Sophie dePeuter won the Dr. D. Scott Bowden Professional Corporation award and Deanna Bartz won the ATCO Gas Award. |
