The Pride girls softball team has wrapped up its season, one that featured several battles with Mother Nature. Coach Kevin Holland said the team went into the playoffs as the first place team in the East division based on their 12-1-1 record.

Athletes competing under the banner of Kate Andrews High School were recognized last week for their efforts over the past school year.
Athlete of the Year awards were presented to Halli Conway and Randi Kaminski, who shared the girls title while Kendell Wiens took home the boys title. Career Athlete honours went to Conway while Wiens and Richard Reimer shared the boys award.

Kristoffer Beer and his sister Breanalee grew up on motorcycles.
They both say that they’ve been riding for as long as they can remember, so when they realized that they didn’t know many of their Sunnyside neighbours, they decided to organize a dirt biking event in their own backyard.
With the help of the Second Gear Club, a motorcycle club out of Calgary with over 300 members, the two organized the event, called the Cactus Coulee Hare Scramble, with the proceeds going to diabetes research.
Breanalee, who celebrated her 18th birthday during the scramble, says that it took some work.
