Two southern Albertans charged with importing cocaine into Canada will remain in custody at least until their next court appearance.
Jacob Dyck of Coaldale and Abram Klassen of Taber appeared last Thursday in Lethbridge provincial court, but their matter was adjourned to July 5 for a bail hearing.

PB firefighters earn service medals PDF Print

A group of firefighters in Picture Butte, with over 140 years of combined service, have been honoured with exemplary service medals.
Chief Sam West said he and four other firefighters went to Calgary last week to accept their service medals at the Calgary Fire Department Training Centre.

A fourth-generation farm family in the Readymade area is this year’s selection by the County of Lethbridge to be honored by the Calgary Stampede.
Don and Marlene McCann and their family have been chosen by the County for the 2012 Calgary Stampede BMO Farm Family Award.

New WestJet aircraft aren’t expected until next year. But Lethbridge officials will urge that their first flights come here.
County of Lethbridge Reeve Lorne Hickey will head a presentation team heading to Calgary on June 28, to confirm southern Alberta’s interest in the additional service.

Coaldale seeking handi-ride financial support PDF Print

A newly formed board of directors is at the helm of the Coaldale and District Handi-Ride Association and seeking to revitalize the organization.
The handi-ride service in the community is currently suspended, after its bus broke down, while the association seeks to rebuilding the service.
