Justin Kurtz of Coaldale is currently attending Mesalands Community College in Tucumcari, New Mexico on a rodeo scholarship. He is a member of the Mesalands Community College Rodeo Team, with its men’s team currently ranked second in the Grand Canyon Region and the Women’s Team is ranked fourth after the fall semester rodeos. Kurtz is one of 32 students on the Mesalands Community College Rodeo Team. He competes in steer wrestling for the Mesalands Community College Rodeo Team. The Grand Canyon Region consists of colleges and universities in New Mexico and Arizona. Not only is the Mesalands Community College Rodeo Team doing well in the arena, this past semester the team set a GPA record for the fifth consecutive semester. “We have a great group of students on our team. They work hard in the arena and in the classroom. We have high expectations and they are exceeding them,” said third year Coach C.J. Aragon. |
