A 27-year-old Barons man was scheduled to appear in court Monday to face nine counts of arson to property and one count of possession of incendiary material after several cars were torched over night in Lethbridge.
Lethbridge Regional Police have charged Shawn Barry Miller of Barons with multiple counts of arson in connection with numerous vehicle fires reported just after midnight Sunday evening. Police and the Lethbridge Fire Department responded to eight vehicle fires and one fence on fire in various locations from Mayor Magrath Drive to 15 Street South, between the 700 and 800 blocks. Police cordoned off the area and a male suspect was apprehended in a backyard along the 700 block of 17 Street South. The victim vehicles appear to have been randomly selected. Damages are estimated at more than $80,000. |
