Lethbridge Regional Police have laid charges against two local drivers involved in unrelated vehicle/pedestrian collisions.
David L. Puzey, 40, of Coalhurst has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. On Jan. 5 at about 4:14 p.m. police responded to a collision at the intersection of St. Edwards Boulevard and St. David Road North in Lethbridge. Investigation determined a westbound Jeep YJ struck a female crossing the street within the marked crosswalk. The female, identified as 57-year-old Marilyn Pratt, sustained life-threatening injuries and died at the scene. Puzey is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 23. Following investigation and consultation with the Crown Prosecutor’s office, Lethbridge Regional Police have charged a Coaldale man in connection with a fatal pedestrian collision last September. On Sept. 19, 2011 at approximately 8:20 p.m. a Toyota Corolla, operated by a 21-year-old male, was southbound in the outside lane of 13 Street South, when it struck a 63-year-old male crossing in the crosswalk at the intersection of 7 Avenue. The victim, identified as Thomas Eagle Speaker, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital then airlifted to Calgary Foothills Hospital where he later died. Dustin Christopher Tarbell, 21, of Coaldale, is charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. |
