The Coaldale Copperheads beat High River in game one of the best of three first round quarter finals in Coaldale Saturday night.
Paced by three goals, including the overtime winner by former Flyer Dillon Houghton. Houghton, a Lethbridge native, played a physical and finesse game as he punished his former teammates on the scoreboard and along the boards. A packed Coaldale Sportsplex was delighted with the win, with a standing ovation as Houghton drilled in a low five hole shot from the top of the circle about a minute and a half into overtime. Clayton Tilleman scored the remaining Copperhead goal. Veteran Goalie Danny Wilk turned aside 27 of 30 shots, with two unlucky goals deflecting off Copperheads defencemen. Game two is set for 7:30 p.m. in High River Tuesday, Valentine’s day, Feb.14. Game three, if needed, will be in Coaldale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb.17. |
