On the weekend of Jan. 27 to 29, the Coaldale Thunder U18 girls team played in Camrose in the Rock Around the Clock Tournament.
The team played a five team round robin schedule. They won three games, by scores of 6-0, 12-1 and 3-1, and lost one by a score of 2-1. To go along with the Gold, two of the Coaldale girls tied for the “Golden Boot Award”, with most goals scored in the tournament. They were Gabe Wielenga and Shea Josuttes. The girls were tied with another girl from Camrose, Allyson, who went off in the second half of our game with a dislocated right knee, so they graciously gave the award to her. Wielenga won “Most Valuable Player” for the U18 Girls Division. This is the second year in a row that a girl from the Coaldale Thunder team has come home with the MVP award. The Coaldale Thunder U18 girls team is also participating in provincial championships in March.
