The Coaldale Copperheads slipped to fourth place in the Southern division of the Heritage Junior Hockey League this past weekend.
The Snakes were in Okotoks on Friday night to face the Bisons. The Copperheads undisciplined play led to numerous power play opportunities for the Bisons which eventually trounced Coaldale 5-0. The undisciplined and lacklustre effort continued on Saturday at home as the High River Flyers came to town, fighting for a playoff spot. The hometown crowd was “treated” to a 8-1 beat down from the seventh place Flyers. Strathmore moves into third place with two games left in the season while Coaldale plays Banff three times in a row to close out its season. Coaldale must win all three giving them a chance to regain third and lock in a second round playoff appearance, which in all likelihood will be the Chochrane Generals, a seven game series. Upcoming game times are Friday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at home, Saturday, Feb. 4 at 8:30 p.m. at home with the last game of the season at Banff on Sunday. Saturday’s game will be fan appreciation night, with lots of giveaways and special events. For more info on the playoff format and other league news visit www.heritagejuniorb.com |
