The Copperheads closed out the regular season with three consecutive wins against the Banff Bears this past weekend.
Friday night’s game in Coaldale was an 11-2 trouncing of the hapless Bears with the Copperheads dominating in every aspect of the game.
Saturday the Bears were in the “Snakepit” once again, giving the hometown crowd on “Fan Appreciation Night” a little better effort, with a final of 5-3.
The Copperheads headed back to Banff for the final game Sunday of the season where the Coaldale crew downed the Bears 7-5 to close out the season.
The Copperheads are tied for third place points with Strathmore Wheatland Kings at 37 each, but since Strathmore has a better win /lose record versus the Copperheads (one win, two overtime wins and one loss) the Copperheads are forced to fourth place.
Round one of the best of three playoff with fifth place High River will start this weekend, more than likely Saturday, Feb. at 8:30 p.m. at the Coaldale Arena.
Winner will play the first place Okotoks Bisons in the South Division semifinal.
Official game times will be announced in The Lethbridge Herald later this week or check out the league website www.heritagejuniorb.com for all updated information.
