Town of Coalhurst
Town of Coalhurst assessment and tax notices were sent out to property owners on June 18, and taxes are due by Thursday, July 31 with a 12 per cent penalty applied to all unpaid 2025 tax balances as of August 1.
A further six per cent penalty is applied to any balance owing after October 31.
Any outstanding balance carried forward into the next year will be further penalized at a rate of 1.5 percent per month. As per the Municipal Government Act, tax notices are deemed to have been received seven days after mailing, and therefore failure to receive a tax notice is not a valid reason for late or non-payment of taxes.
Payment can be made at the town office or through financial institutions or online banking. If paying through the bank, please be sure to use the Town of Coalhurst Taxes payee and use your roll number as the account number. The Town does not accept credit card payments at the town office; however, there are options online which charge a nominal fee. Contact the town office for further information.
If you participate in the Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP), your monthly payment amount will be updated on the July 15 payment. As part of the program, the payment deadline does not apply to you and residents will continue to make a monthly payment. If residents wish to appeal their assessment, the first step should be to contact the assessor (Benchmark Assessment Consultants at 403-381-0535).
Coalhurst town council approved the 2025 Final Budget and Mill Rate Bylaw No. 466-25 during its regular council meeting on May 20. See the 2025 Municipal Property Tax Fact Sheet for more information.
