Going digital reduces County’s accountability

Posted on June 11, 2026 by Sunny South News

My thoughts about the county discontinuing the subscription include:

• they want to make their life easier by not having someone compile a list of taxpayers.

• they want to go completely digital with their notices.

• they want to cut costs. However, I think this is a way for them to reduce accountability.

I know you do not have a current list of taxpayers, because my parents and in• laws have been dead for over 6 years and I still receive papers in both their names to my address. I do not receive one in my name though.

I think if they go digital, more of their actions will be missed by the public. Not everyone is willing to access their app. I know it should be a priority, but people are inundated by digital information and then pick and choose more ‘fun’ reading.

Their costs would be reduced if there were less duplicate papers going to the same address. I am not the only one this is happening to. They should set up a subscription renewal so that only people who want the paper get it.

Sincerely,

A county resident
