The Kinettes Club of Coaldale continues to give back to the community through fundraising and donation efforts, with their most recent donation going to the Coaldale Health Centre.

The Kinettes Club along with volunteers from the health centre, helped raised funds to purchase a new and much needed Broda Chair.

“We raised funds for the Broda Chair through community involvement. We had some members of the Coaldale Heath Centre who came out and helped with some fundraising as well,” said Angela Rosenau, president of the Kinette Club of Coaldale.

It is not the first time the health centre has received a Broda Chair but Rosenau noted this recent one is believed to be the highest calibre of chair they have received, costing about $4,270 in total.

“It was something that they were looking to purchase. They were looking to see if they could get one and it was brought to our attention that they needed a Broda Chair,” said Rosenau, noting they presented the chair to the health centre at the end of June.

“It will help both the patients and the staff,” she added, noting how Broda Chairs are often used. “Broda wheelchairs provide care for people who are in long-term complex care situations to help their mobility and their rehabilitation,” explained Rosenau. “This one in particular is a higher-end model that allows caregivers to lay the patient completely flat … if they need to lay them down – the chair itself fully reclines and it has extra padding and extra cushioning on it for comfort.”

The Kinettes Club of Coaldale also made several other recent donations, including a $500 bursary to Cara Van Bezooyen, a Grade 12 student at Coaldale Christian School. They also made a $10,000 donation to the Coaldale Prairie Winds Fire Academy and a $500 donation to STARS Air Ambulance.

Earlier this spring, the club also received a $50,000 Coaldale Community Wellness Association grant and $1,217 in funding from the Stirling Wind Project for the recently announced renovations to the basketball courts and playground adjacent to the Coaldale Skatepark.
