The Town of Nobleford is ready to celebrate its community and its history during its annual Heritage Day on July 26.

“It’s a great family event,” said Joan Boeder, mayor of Nobleford, noting the one-day event has been celebrated for many years and is believed to have first started out as a sports-oriented day.

The annual celebration, which is being organized by the Nobleford Heritage Society, will begin with a pancake breakfast, at 7:30 -10 a.m. at the community complex, followed by a parade at 11 a.m. and barbecue lunch hosted by the fire department at 11:30 am.

There will also be pony rides, face painting and bouncy castles for the kids, among other activities, as well as an antique car show, food trucks and the Nobleford Area Museum will also be open for residents and visitors to enjoy.

In addition, there will also be a small farmers market inside the Nobleford Community Centre in the afternoon, noted Boeder. Nearby communities will also come out and participate in the annual parade.

“We usually invite the surrounding communities for our parade and some members of our council try to participate in parades in (nearby) communities,” she said, noting that while there won’t be too many new components to Heritage Day this year, one thing the town is thrilled to welcome residents to, is the brand new town office building.

“We are having an open house for the community that day,” said Boeder. “The fire department is also having an opening at their new training facility on the north side of town. That would be two special things going on that day (for Heritage Day).”

Residents and visitors can continue enjoying a number of outdoor festivities throughout the day at the community complex from 12:30 – 4 p.m.

“It’s a great event to bring the community together,” said Boeder. “In that way, it’s keeping the heritage of Nobleford in that it’s keeping the community spirit.”
