Town of Coalhurst adopts community plan for recreation, parks and culture

The Town of Coalhurst is proud to announce the adoption of Vibrant Spaces, Vibrant Lives: A Community Plan for Recreation, Parks and Culture — a guiding document that will help shape the community’s recreational opportunities for the next 20 years.

Developed in partnership with RCS+ Strategies, the plan reflects extensive research and engagement with residents, community groups and youth. Feedback was gathered through surveys, open houses, school outreach, and conversations with local organizations, ensuring the plan reflects what matters most to Coalhurst residents.

The plan outlines strategies to protect and enhance Coalhurst’s parks, facilities, recreational programs and cultural opportunities, while guiding future investments, partnerships and grant opportunities. It also highlights the environmental, health, social, and economic benefits of recreation, with recommendations to improve service delivery and ensure accessible opportunities for all.

“This plan is about more than parks and facilities — it’s about building a healthier, stronger, and more connected community,” said Coalhurst Mayor Lyndsay Montina. “We heard from residents, and their voices are at the heart of this plan. It will guide Council and future leaders in making thoughtful decisions that reflect the values and aspirations of our community.”
