Town of Coalhurst
Councillor Brody Prete has resigned from Coalhurst Town Council effective August 28, 2026.
The Town thanked Councillor Prete for his service to the community and his contributions during his time on Council.
“On behalf of Council, I want to sincerely thank Councillor Prete for his commitment to the Town of Coalhurst,” said Mayor Deb Florence. “Serving on Council is a significant responsibility and we appreciate the time, energy and perspective he brought to the role. We wish him well for his future.”
Next steps
In accordance with the Municipal Government Act, a municipal by-election must be held within 120 days of a Councillor’s resignation.
Council will receive a report regarding the by-election at its September 15, 2026 Regular Council meeting. At that meeting, Council will establish the by-election date and timeline. Following Council’s decision, the Town will share confirmed information with residents, including key dates and information about the nomination and voting processes.
