Coaldale hosts Fall Community Meetup and Registration

Dozens of Coaldale families and individuals came out to explore local community groups, sports organizations and learn about sign-up opportunities during the Fall Community Meetup and Registration.  

The annual event, formerly known as Fall Mass Registration, took place at the SHIFT Community Recreation Centre on Sept. 15.

Some of the groups participating in the annual event included Coaldale Citizens on Patrol, 3rd Coaldale Scouts, Big Brother, Big Sisters Lethbridge, Coaldale and District Chamber of Commerce, the Coaldale Figure Skating Club and the TIME Society.   

“This event brings a lot of our community together and shows all of the groups  we have that are local and that kids can sign up for,” said Brooke Tonin, Special Events Coordinator with the Town of Coaldale. 

In addition, other organizations that offer support to residents included Alberta Health Services (AHS), the Coaldale Food Bank, and Family and Community Support Services (FCSS). While other participating groups provided information on town services and facilities, including representatives from Coaldale Municipal Enforcement and the Coaldale Public Library. 

Organizations and groups this year included those from the Town of Coaldale and the City of Lethbridge. 

“We have around 38 booths this year – turnout has been good so far. It’s been a good event,” said Tonin. “We have help from the Coaldale Kinsmen and the Kinettes (clubs) as well, serving free pizza. So that’s been a huge hit and the Real Estate Centre is giving out free popcorn.”      

The Fall Community Meetup and Registration saw several returning groups and several new organizations and businesses participating in the annual event.  

“I hope the community sees how many great groups there are locally, and even from Lethbridge, and sees how many kids activities the town has and how many support groups we also have,” said Tonin. “It’s great to see everybody come together and see how much Coaldale has.”
