Town of Coaldale

Town of Coaldale Councillor Dale Pickering has officially announced his intention to seek re-election in the upcoming municipal election, scheduled for October 20, 2025.

“I am proud to once again put my name forward to serve the residents of Coaldale,” said Pickering. “Over the past four years, I have worked hard to be a consistent voice for our community and to help move key initiatives forward. With the momentum we have built as a Council, I am excited about the opportunity to continue that progress into the next term.”

First elected in 2021, Pickering has earned a reputation for his collaborative approach, thoughtful decision-making, and his deep commitment to listening to residents. He has served as Council’s representative on a number of local boards and committees and has been a strong advocate for transparency, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement.

Key Accomplishments:

• Recreation and Events: Supported the development and grand opening of the SHIFT Community Recreation Centre, as well as enhancements to the outdoor skating rink and Civic Square. Actively promoted community events such as SummerFest, WinterFest, and Canada Day.

• Infrastructure and Growth: Backed investments in long-term utility infrastructure, including the $13.2 million potable water reservoir and pump station. Supported efforts to improve stormwater management through the Malloy Drain 2B project.

• Community Development: Advocated for responsible residential growth through subdivisions such as Canal Crossing and Malloy Landing, helping to ensure that housing options meet the needs of a growing population.

• Partnerships and Planning: Promoted intermunicipal collaboration, supported active transportation initiatives such as the MPE Link Pathway, and worked with regional partners to advance Coaldale’s role in southern Alberta’s economic landscape. Pickering is passionate about bringing investment not only to the Town of Coaldale but to southern Alberta as a whole. His involvement with economic development organizations such as SouthGrow Regional Initiative has allowed him to champion projects that attract business, create jobs, and strengthen regional competitiveness. Dale understands that a strong Coaldale benefits from a thriving region, and he continues to foster relationships that support long-term, sustainable growth across municipal boundaries.

“As a Councillor, I take pride in being accessible, responsive, and dedicated to the people of Coaldale,” said Pickering. “We have seen incredible progress over the past four years, and I look forward to building on that momentum. If re-elected, I will continue to advocate for a community that is safe, vibrant, and inclusive, a place we are all proud to call home.”
