Coalhurst encourages residents to prepare for voting day Oct. 20

Town of Coalhurst

The Town of Coalhurst is encouraging all eligible voters to prepare ahead of the upcoming 2025 Municipal Election on Monday, October 20 by reviewing voting dates, eligibility, identification requirements, and voting location to help ensure a smooth experience at the polls.

Municipal elections are held every four years to determine the Mayor and Council for the next term. Each voter may cast a ballot for one (1) candidate for Mayor and up to four (4) candidates for Council.

Voting Dates and Locations

Voting will take place at the Coalhurst Community Centre (527 50 Avenue):

Advance Voting

• Tuesday, October 14 ñ 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

• Saturday, October 18 ñ 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Election Day

• Monday, October 20 ñ 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m

Voting Eligibility

To vote in the Coalhurst municipal election, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age,

• Be a Canadian citizen, and

• Be a resident of the Town of Coalhurst on Election Day.

Identification Requirements

All voters must present identification to vote.

• Registered Voters (on the Permanent Electors Register) must show one piece of government-issued identification containing their name and photo.

Accepted ID includes:

• Alberta Driverís Licence

• Alberta Identification Card

• Canadian Passport

• Canadian Citizenship Card

• MÈtis Nation of Alberta Citizenship Card

Unregistered Voters (not on the Permanent Electors Register) must present government-issued photo identification that includes their name and current address. Residents who do not have government-issued photo ID may still vote by providing accepted identification showing their name and address.
