My decision to run for mayor of Coalhurst is driven by a genuine love for this town and a firm belief in its potential. Since moving here, I’ve fallen in love with Coalhurst and its people, which led me to become involved with council. Now, seeing the potential the town holds, I want to move that forward by leading with a vision that ensures every voice has an opportunity to shine. I am committed to working with our next council to enable residents to remain in town by ensuring our services match the needs of the community without relying on increased taxation. I will also be a strong supporter of the local champions that already make our town a great place to be.

My family and I decided to move to Coalhurst in 2020 and have been thrilled to call Coalhurst home. My involvement with council over the last term has taught me the importance of listening, collaborating, and finding creative solutions to complex issues. I believe a great leader’s role is not to dictate, but to enable and inspire the people around them. I am a firm believer that the best ideas often come from the residents who live and breathe the challenges and triumphs of the town every day.

My background gives me the experience needed to work effectively with council, administration, and residents to achieve common goals. I see our future as one where we carefully manage growth, keep services affordable, and foster an environment where local businesses and community groups can thrive. I am running to lead a new chapter for Coalhurst that is marked by transparency, smart growth, and a focus on keeping our town an accessible and wonderful place to live for all its residents.

This election isn’t just about electing a leader but voting for the culture we want to create. For more information http://www.scottakkermans.com
