I wrote a letter to the mayor and council of the Town of Coaldale March 17, 2021 requesting them to waive my current Home Occupation Business Licence because I have a physical disability. I explained to them the injuries I have incurred for the past nine years. My physician provided me with a handicapped placard on a permanent basis.
However, on April 13, 2021, I received a letter from Melanie Messier, Municipal Planning intern.
The letter noted council’s decision came during the evening before a meeting, where they rejected my waiver request. They stated I have business licences from 2017-2020. Council was unclear as to why this is the first year I requested a waiver of fees from a rescinded bylaw.
Regarding council’s question, I wrote a letter January 10, 1990 to Earl McIIroy, town manager at the time, explaining the reason why I would like them to waive my business licence fees.
I had a serious industrial accident at the Taber Sugar factory that left me disabled permanently.
Council requested a current medical report because they were not satisfied with the WCB accident report. The present Mayor Kim Craig and council members were not aware I paid Home Occupancy Business Licence for 30 years.
I would like Coaldale residents and the surrounding area to write a letter to the Town of Coaldale mayor and council to give me their support regarding my request to waive my upcoming business licence fee for 2021, due to my disability. E-mail letters to admin@coaldale.ca. Thank you.
