Coaldale Copperheads
Big weekend coming up for the Coaldale Copperheads, as the team faces two tough South Division teams.
Friday night they travel to Cochrane to play in their arena, which in the past, puts up good numbers for the Generals.
Ten days ago, the teams met in the Coaldale Arena, where the Snakes handed the Generals their first loss of the season.
Falling two goals behind at the start of the game, the Copperheads found their pace with seven unanswered goals following.
It was a highlight for the team so far this season, without a doubt — ending the game with a 9-3 victory.
Ryan Swier, Calvin Swanson and Tyler Anderson each had double goals with singles from Jayden Smith, Matthew Nadeau and Clay Spencer.
Stats going into the weekend for the teams: Cochrane ( 15 GP-13 W-2 L) Copperheads ( 12 GP-11 W-1 L).
Coming up this Saturday, the Snakes will have the Okotoks Bisons visiting the Snake Pit for an 8:30 p.m. game.
Okotoks is currently sitting in third of the South Division ( 13 GP-8 W-5 L ).
Last time the teams met was the first game of the season on Sept. 16 on the road with the Copperheads winning 4-2.
Coaldale Copperheads skated to their sixth straight victory last Thursday night — defeating the Medicine Hat Cubs by a 5-2 score at the Kinplex .
Calvin Swanson with another night of scoring two goals. Mackenzie Karl, Graham Dugdale and Dustin Houghton scored the remaining singles. Goalkeeper Dillan Kelly stopped 19 of 21 shots his way in the Medicine Hat game and 27 of 30 shots in the important Cochrane game.
