Picture Butte has added a time limit to collecting fines related to two bylaws.
During their regular Sept. 28 meeting, Picture Butte town council reviewed proposed amendments to their Animal Regulations bylaw.
The amending bylaw 899-20 pertains to fines issued by the town.
Under the current bylaw, it requires that any outstanding fines comes to town council at the end of the year before the fine amount can be transferred to the property as per the bylaw. The amendments would allow town administration to transfer any fines unpaid to the property, if they remain outstanding 90 days after being issued. It would still allow time for the person who received the fine to talk to Council if they disagree with the fine issued, and by automatically transferring after 90 days, the town can be assured that the fine gets transferred in a timely manner.
Council had previously discussed the amendments at a recent Committee of the Whole meeting.
Council performed all three readings of the amending bylaw.
Council also reviewed amending bylaw 900-20, which would amend the Unsightly Property and Snow Removal Bylaw in a similar manner.
Council performed all three readings of the bylaw.
