The Prairie Winds Wild high school baseball team is in the win column.
Last Wednesday, the Coaldale team bested Lethbridge’s Chinook High School Coyotes 6-5 in Alberta Premier Baseball League action, to move to 1-3 on the 2026 campaign.
It was a game in which a number of players came up clutch for the Wild, according to head coach James Olson.
“Our key players of the game were Tyson Feyter and Kade Hamilton, in all three facets of the game,” he said. “Tyson had a dominant start, going five strong innings.”
Feyer gave up only two hits and three earned runs and struck out six Coyotes.
Hamilton, for his part, was just as good on the hill, as he worked two innings and only allowed one hit and one earned run.
“Kade was pretty much unhittable in relief, striking out five batters,” said Olson.
Hamilton was also the offensive catalyst for Prairie Winds.
“Kade was unstoppable at the plate and was setting the tone at the plate,” said the coach, as Hamilton went 2-2 with a walk.
But for all of his contributions on the mound and at the plate, Olson added Hamilton’s key contribution actually came on the defensive end.
“The turning point in the game came with runners on, and Kade made a diving stab on the ball up the middle to end the inning,” said Olson.
Offensively, Feyter also came up big with two hits, a RBI and a run scored. Nolan Honess, Grady Knoblich, Benj Boschman and Oz Hiscox all had one-hit games against Chinook as well, as Boschman drove in two runs and Eric Stotyn picked up a single RBI.
With a win in the books, Prairie Winds will now turn its attention to a Wednesday game against Medicine Hat’s McCoy Colts. That game is set for 6 p.m. at The Quads in Coaldale.
