Resident concerned about Site A safety

Posted on July 23, 2019 by Sunny South News

To the Parents and Tax Payers of Coaldale,

Please be aware that the town council has not made a responsible decision on the site of the new High School near the Birds of Prey.  The site chosen is a safety issue for 85 per cent of the student population that will need to attend it.

The majority of these students will have to cross both a major highway and busy railroad tracks to get to the walking path on the northside of the train tracks. There are huge safety risks with the amount of traffic that is travelling through Coaldale at the same time as our students are trying to safely cross to school.

The town council should reconsider a site on the southside of Coaldale where the growth is occurring that will impact the safety of a smaller percentage of the student population.

Given the current political uncertainty and economics they could renovate and add to the current school, Kate Andrews, which is centrally located in the town.

Town council states that they have 10 million set aside to build the school but I believe they need to evaluate the safety issues and hold a public plebiscite to determine how the taxpayers wish to proceed.

Please let the council know you are not in favor of the site they chose and want more public consultation before proceeding!

A Concerned Resident,

RICHARD BATES
