Traditional Christmas

My parents were as poor as a church mouse during the late 40’s.

They could not afford a Creche so they placed straw underneath the living room table. Carolers would come on Christmas Eve even in the cold of winter and sang Christmas Carols. They did not ask for money but enjoyed  festive treats before they left to go to  the next farm house.

CHRISTMAS MORN

I’ve seen a star in the eastern  tide

And held an angel to my breast

As I would ride the trail

To a far away land

And pay homage to our Holy Child “Jesus Christ”.
