Dear Editor:
Ubuntu is an ancient Swahili term with no direct translation into English. Bill Clinton used this word in a speech about the importance of society, while according to Nelson Mandela, Ubuntu was central in the reconstruction of South Africa.
“It means I am because you are.” It means the well-being of others is important to our own well-being. It means showing humanity to everyone you meet because we are all connected.
Think about Ubuntu in this time of CO-VID. Let us all practice Ubuntu.
