Fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 25

On Mar. 1, at approximately 5:57 a.m. Picture Butte RCMP were dispatched to a head-on motor vehicle collision on Highway 25, three kilometres west of Picture Butte. The Picture Butte ambulance and fire department also attended.

A west bound Jeep wrangler was in a full frontal collision with an east bound Chrysler PT Cruiser. The Jeep wrangler was fully engulfed in flames upon arrival.  The driver had been removed from the vehicle. The driver of the PT Cruiser, a 19-year-old male from Picture Butte was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler, an 18-year-old male, also from Picture Butte,  was transported to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. Subsequently transported to Foothills hospital in Calgary in serious condition.

The RCMP collision analyst and the CCIT team are investigating the incident.

An investigation continues into the cause of the incident.
