Coalhurst is having a Spring Sale and Community Yard Sale May 2.
“It’s kind of a duo-sale. Part of it is indoor at the community centre — the Miners Days Committee is sponsoring it — but there’s also a community yard sale,” said committee President Kim Horak.
Coalhurst residents can simply set up a table with their wares and wonders in their yards and slap a sticker on ‘em and put them up for sale, in conjunction with the spring sale held at the Coalhurst Community Centre from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
Last year, Horak noted, a local community member started the community yard sale concept.
Horak explained the month of May is busy with the town’s Reduce, Reuse and Recycle weekend followed by the town’s spring clean-up.
“Basically, you can try to sell it, leave it for free or set it out in spring clean-up,” she joked.
“It kind of works in all three weekends.”
According to Horak, it’s new and “new to you” on sale at the community centre with trade show vendors including home-based businesses and yard sale tables.
There will also be a concession. The tables are sold out.
“We’ve actually started a waiting list. I think we have 40 tables,” she added.

Horak has been on the Miners Days committee for the past 11 years and has been president for nine of those years.
Horak noted she used to do crafts with her mom and the two started a craft show together.
As for the Spring Sale and Community Yard Sale, Horak said come out and support either the community or Miners Days.
“It will be a buzzing kind of weekend,” she added.
