Fatal motor vehicle collision

On Mar. 17, at approximately 10 a.m. Picture Butte, Lethbridge Rural and Claresholm RCMP along with local emergency services responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 23, just north of Range Road 519 in Lethbridge County.

A pickup truck was travelling northbound when it collided with a southbound semi truck and trailer unit.

The 77-year old passenger of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The 78-year-old driver of the pickup was transported to hospital in Lethbridge with unknown injuries. The driver and passenger of the semi were not injured.

The highway traffic was temporarily rerouted but has since been reopened.
