Coaldale Public Library
Family Literacy Day was created in 1999 to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. The Coaldale Public Library and the County of Lethbridge Community Learning Council (CLCLC) will provide free programming for families from 2:30-4 p.m. Friday.
Drop in for story time, a craft, a photo booth (with your favourite book) and a snack. At the same time, Tween Club will take place in the McCain Gallery (please pre-register, as space is limited). The library will also be taking part in the #Readfor15 challenge for the second year in a row. Last year, Sylvan Lake Municipal Library challenged all libraries in Alberta to see how many people in their towns/areas would read for 15 minutes on Family Literacy Day. Coaldale Public Library had 10 per cent of the population report reading for 15 minutes and the community placed 10th in the province. The library challenges Coaldale readers to read for 15 minutes this Friday and report to the library.
