The Cinnamon Bun Fun Run is a virtual 5K Run / Walk and 10K Run is presented by the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association (LRCA).
This year, the Cinnamon Bun Fun Run is a virtual charity walk/run promoting healthy outdoor family activity before the holiday season and provides some much-needed resources to the LRCA and its many programs. The event will feature a virtual 5k run/walk and a virtual 10k run. Price for registration this year is $10/adult (13 and over) and $5/child (12 and under). All proceeds benefit the LRCA.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 this year cannot operate for participants this year like in years past. Still, they anticipate runners and walkers will enjoy getting outside with family, engaging in some exercise, and enjoying some delicious treats.
“It started with about 60 people participating, and that was in 2004, and the striders continued to do this, and numbers went crazy, and I think at one time it hit almost 800 people in the last little while and of course the treats that were given was by our famous bakery here in Ladysmith B.C the old town bakery,” said Rick Rake Manager, communication and events at Ladysmith Resources Centre Association.
LRCA is proud to report that all participants will receive the limited edition “Cinnamon Bun Fun Run cookie” from the Old Town Bakery in Ladysmith.
Old Town Bakery continues to jam their delicious cinnamon buns into a cookie. You must be registered for a virtual event to receive these tasty treats.
“I’m still waiting for more people to register for this event, and when you do it virtually not many people are interested, but the spirit is still there cause I think last year we had about 150 people participate just online and it’s not limited to just the Ladysmith its Nanaimo Duncan people come from the burnies to this thing the couch valley so it’s popularly and like I said again when covid hit this is the second time we’re doing it online” added Rake.
Cinnamon buns also wanted to thank everyone in advance. They aim to make this an enjoyable “virtual” family event that ensures the health and safety of Cinnamon Bun Fun Run participants and our volunteers while raising awareness and resources for the LRCA.
