A simple act of kindness can have a significant impact and inspire others to share compassion and positivity. Random Acts of Kindness is a day to promote the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself and the world.
Random Act of Kindness Day is celebrated by community foundations across Canada annually to acknowledge the power of small acts of kindness. Be entered for a chance to win a $500 Kindness Grant.
So, the community foundation we don’t fundraise we have a fund we have an allocation every year that we put out to the community as grants, so we budget ten five dollars kindness grants, so it’s a total of 5,000 and so people who perform their kindness act and share their acts with us on our social media page using our hashtag and their names go in a draw. The winners win a $500 kindness grant for the local charity of their choice,” said Charleen Davidson, executive director.
Coalhurst’s had celebrated Random Acts of Kindness on Friday, Nov. 3. A kind act can be anything from paying someone a compliment, holding the door for someone, or buying someone a coffee — to name a few. On Friday, Nov. 5, Coalhurst’s invited you to perform kind acts for others and encourage them to do the same, creating a wave of kindness across southwestern Alberta.
“This started at Kingston Waterloo Community Foundation many years ago, and it really started as a kind act, and somebody thought let’s see if we can just get this momentum on this and community foundation across the country participate in it, but now that the federal government has established a Random Act of Kindness week in February will probably be moving to that as well in the future,” added Davidson.
The Community Foundation of Lethbridge statement stated thank you to Alberta Health Services, to show their support during the Random Act of Kindness by inviting Alberta Health Care employees working in southwestern Alberta to be our guests at the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden’s Winter Light Festival. Throughout December 2021 and January 2022, all southwestern Alberta AHS employees who show valid proof of employment at the Nikka Yuko gates will receive two complimentary tickets to the Winter Light Festival.
