Coaldale bottle depot partners with U-Haul

Coaldale residents can now go to the local bottle depo for their moving supplies.

The Coaldale Bottle Depot partnered with U-Haul last year to offer moving supplies and trailer rentals at the Coaldale location.

Since October 2021, the Coaldale Bottle Depot has offered services such as U-Haul trucks and towing equipment rentals, moving supplies and in-store pickup for boxes. Those looking to rent a moving truck from U-Haul can contact the depot and they can arrange for a truck to come out to their location for the person to pick up.

“We know there was demand from town, and at the same time, we have some extra space at the bottle depot,” said Daniel Ryu, owner of the Coaldale Bottle Depot, on why they are doing the partnership.

Ryu said with the nearly 9,000 people living in the Coaldale area, there was demand for companies like U-Haul. However, people looking for those services would have to travel to Lethbridge for such a service and becoming a neighbourhood dealer allows for a local service in town.

Ryu noted that due to the winter season, there has been less demand for moving supplies and equipment, and is looking to see how the next few years go with the service. But with the prime moving season coming up, the depot has received positive feedback over the new service.

“So far, we have been getting good feedback from our local customers here,” said Ryu. “I think it’s going to be pretty good.”

U-Haul currently has 219 neighbourhood dealers throughout Alberta and more than 21,000 dealers across the U.S. and Canada.
