Registration deadline approaching for Picture Butte tourney

The results will be tallied on the scorecard at round’s end, but the impact of the Picture Butte High School Golf Scramble Fundraiser should be evident for years to come.

The second annual event, hosted by the Public Schools Betterment Society of Picture Butte, will be held June 3 with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The registration deadline for the tournament at Picture Butte Golf Course is May 23, with a team entry fee of $500.

Proceeds will go towards both the high school and Dorothy Dalgliesh School. The society hosted its first tournament this past fall and funds raised went towards a variety of initiatives at PBHS including new junior high basketball uniforms, music and instruments for the band program, lighting for the fine arts program and equipment for the mechanics program. The elementary school added computers and tablets for the classroom, music and gym equipment, bolstered classroom libraries and allowed for the purchase of more flexible classroom seating.

The event also includes a helicopter ball drop with prizes for closest to the pin and furthest from the pin, while helicopter rides can also be purchased. For more information on the tournament go to http://pbhs.ca/ or call Nick at 403-892-1734.
