Town of Nobleford seeking resident feedback for potential pathway

Posted on July 2, 2026 by Sunny South News

• Community survey deadline is July 15

The Town of Nobleford is encouraging its residents to have their say on a potential new pathway on the east side of town that would connect a ring around the entire community.

Between June 15 and July 15, the Town is conducting a survey to gather community feedback, which will help determine if the pathway project is a priority for residents.

“The strip of land between Centennial Avenue and 5th Avenue has always had potential, and our previous Council and CAO identified it as an ideal location for a walking path,” said Town of Nobleford Mayor, Joan Boeder. “The vision is bigger than just this one section as the Town’s long-term goal is to create a complete walking and biking ring around Nobleford.”

Boeder noted the Town already has a paved pathway on the west side that is about 1,100 metres, and is well-loved and well-used by residents.

“This east side connection, approximately 300 metres in this first phase, would be an important step toward completing that ring,” she added.

To help make the new pathway a reality, the Town is applying for a $50,000 grant through the Alberta Blue Cross – the Alberta Blue Cross Built Together grant would help fund the construction of the new walking and biking pathway.

As part of the grant application process, Alberta Blue Cross is asking communities to demonstrate local support for proposed projects – which the Town is doing via the short community survey. They are hoping to reach 150 responses or more, noted Boeder, pointing out the interest in the potential pathway has been a topic of conversation in the community for some time.

“Residents have been asking about this for years. We have received numerous inquiries from residents asking when the east side pathway would be completed,” said Boeder. “Council is genuinely excited about the possibility this grant represents, and we want to make sure residents have a voice in moving it forward.”

Council has been briefed on the potential project and is enthusiastic about the opportunity, noted Boeder, adding this initial phase is the start of something much larger – something the Town and Council are committed to pursuing and ensuring the full vision over time.

“We are still in the exploratory stage, which is exactly why the survey matters so much right now,” she said. “We want to hear from our community before we move forward with the formal application in September.”

Residents can complete the survey in several ways – a QR code is available on the Town’s Facebook page, website, and newsletter. Those who prefer a paper copy can stop by the Town Office at 231 King Street.

“The survey deadline is July 15, so we encourage everyone to share their thoughts soon,” said Boeder. “We are proud of what Nobleford residents have built together, and this pathway is another step toward making our community an even better place to live, walk, and grow.”
