As we mark National Volunteer Week, April 19 to 25, 2026, it is an important opportunity to recognize and reflect on the individuals who give their time, energy, and care to strengthen our community. In Coaldale, volunteerism is not just something we celebrate for one week, it is something we see in action every day.
In a community like Coaldale, one of our greatest strengths is something you will not find in a budget document or infrastructure plan. It is the people who step forward, give their time, and quietly make a difference.
Volunteerism has long been part of Coaldale’s identity. Whether it is the work of the Kinsmen Club of Coaldale raising funds for community projects, members of Coaldale Citizens on Patrol providing an extra set of eyes in our neighbourhoods, or the many volunteers who support local events, programs, and organizations, these contributions shape the kind of community we are proud to call home.
These are not small efforts. They are the reason we have gathering spaces, community events, and supports in place that make Coaldale more than just a place to live. They create a sense of belonging, connection, and shared responsibility.
I have seen firsthand how much time and effort goes into organizing events, supporting local initiatives, and simply showing up when help is needed. Much of this work happens quietly and without recognition, but its impact is felt across our entire community.
As we continue to grow, it is important that we do not lose sight of what has made Coaldale strong in the first place. Growth brings new opportunities, but it is volunteerism and community involvement that ensure we remain connected and grounded.
If you have ever thought about getting involved, National Volunteer Week is a great time to start. Whether it is helping at an event, joining a local organization, or lending a hand where it is needed, every contribution matters.
Coaldale is a strong community because of its people. That has always been our foundation, and it will continue to be our future.
