The Town of Coalhurst has announced a new direction for the Miners Park Campground – transforming the space from individual overnight camping into a one-of-a-kind outdoor group rental experience unlike any other in the region.
As of this year, the campground no longer operates as a traditional drop-in camping facility. Instead, the entire site is available as a private, bookable venue for gatherings, celebrations and group events.
Designed as an outdoor extension of a traditional event rental facility, the space offers groups exclusive access to the campground, including 14 unserviced camping stalls, a picnic shelter, flush toilets, pay showers and an RV sani-dump station.
Elsewhere in Miners Park, guests can use the children’s playground, three soccer fields and four baseball diamonds. And if groups are looking for more amenities, they also have an option to rent the nearby David A. Veres social area, which includes access to a private kitchen, gas BBQs, a larger picnic shelter and open green space.
The Town envisions the campground being used for:
– Family reunions
– Weddings and celebrations
– Youth camps and leadership programs
– School and team retreats
– Community organization events
– Non-profit programming
“This is more than a campground,” said Coalhurst Mayor Deborah Florence. “We’ve created a unique outdoor gathering space that gives people a new way to celebrate, connect and spend time together. Much like booking a hall or community centre, groups can now book an entire outdoor venue designed around privacy, flexibility and shared experiences.”
Unlike traditional campgrounds where multiple unrelated users share the space, the Miners Park Campground will now function as a fully private rental space. The Town believes this positions Coalhurst as a destination for unique summer gatherings and events and encourages groups from across southern Alberta to consider Coalhurst when planning activities.
“We’re proud to offer something that is truly different,” said Mayor Florence. “We believe this creates a special opportunity for Coalhurst and for the people looking for a memorable place to gather.”
The new model for the campground is intended to improve overall site management, enhance the visitor experience and encourage greater use of the facility for community-focused events and activities.
Group bookings are now being accepted. For more information, availability, or booking details, please visit the Town’s website at http://www.coalhurst.ca/campground or call the Town Office at 403-381-3033.
